General Directorate of Reintegration and Prison Services, Portugal

The General Directorate of Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP) is an organization of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice. This organization has four core components: criminal law – prison and probation service, Juvenile Justice and Family justice (Haia Convention).
The main competence of this merged organization created in 2012, is in the criminal law and juvenile justice jurisdiction. It has a nationwide span of intervention, with teams and prisons covering all of the Portuguese territory, providing technical support to the courts, in order to prevent offending and re-offending.
DGRSP Mission is to define and implement the state policies on criminal prevention, providing support and technical advice to the court, to the social reintegration services for youth and adults namely through the supervision of court sentences, probation, parole, alternative measures to imprisonment and also delivering prison services.
